Gloria Nehring

September 13, 1954 — December 27, 2022

On December 27, 2022, Gloria Sue Nehring walked through the gates of Heaven, at the age of 68, after a hard-fought battle with cancer. Gloria was known for her many roles throughout her years on earth. She was a daughter, sister, wife, teacher, mother, and grandmother (Gigi). Gloria was a faithful servant, active church member and a valued friend who touched so many people as she led her life. Graveside services will be 11:00 a.m., Friday, December 30, at Hillcrest Cemetery, 266 FM147, Marlin, TX, with Pastor Clint Salmon officiating. The family will receive visitors from 5 – 7:00 p.m., Thursday Dec. 29, at Pecan Grove Funeral Home, 3124 Robinson Drive, Waco.
She was more than happy to be the central figure in the lives of her children and grandchildren. Anyone who knows of her relationship with her family, knows that she is a bright star in their eyes, and forever will be remembered.
Gloria started her life in Waco, Texas where she was born at the old Hillcrest Hospital. She was the youngest of 4 siblings, who loved their baby sister, “Glory Sue” very much. Gloria graduated from Baylor University and pursued her career as a teacher for over 30 years. She served her students with an abundance of diligence and love. Gloria, worked as a Reading Improvement Teacher, as a Special Education teacher for the Blind and Visually Impaired and at the Hobby Unit, (the women’s prison) in Marlin. Gloria was a very dedicated educator and even after retirement, taught math to the 4th and 5th graders in Chilton.
Gloria has made numerous friends over the years and in the final months of her life, was visited and loved by so many. Although the list of her professional accomplishments is impressive and deserving of much praise, if you had asked Gloria about her most prized position to hold in her life, without hesitation, she would say that her role as mother and Gigi far exceeded the rest.
Gloria’s two children, Jaime Glenn, and Ronald Wayne Nehring Jr. (Buck), brought meaning to her life like no other. Her joy was expounded when Jaime and Vince (son-in-law) gave her a precious title, Gigi, to her two grandsons, Hunter, and Hudson. Rarely would anyone have a conversation with Gloria that you did not hear how proud she was of her “boys”.
Gloria was preceded in death by her father and mother, R Lee Ramsey and Mutt Ramsey and by her former husband Ronnie Nehring. Gloria is survived by her daughter Jaime, her husband Vince and grandsons Hunter and Hudson and her son Buck Nehring and his wife Lisa. Her memory will live on with her brother, Randy Ramsey and his wife Brandy (Atlanta, Georgia), sisters Sharon Dueitt (Humble, Texas) and Pat Goodwyn and her husband Bill (Waco, Texas). She will be remembered by a multitude of nieces and nephews and extended family.
It was Gloria’s wish that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to: First Baptist Church of Riesel, PO Box 509, Riesel, Texas 76682.
