George Meeks

May 11, 1948 — September 18, 2022

George Clinton Meeks, 74, of Bellmead, TX went home to be with the Lord on September 18, 2022. A celebration of his life will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday September 24, 2022, at Silver Maple Chapel, 1370 W. Moonlight Drive in Robinson Texas.

George was born to Vester and Virginia Meeks on May 11, 1948, in Tracy City, Tennessee. As a young man, George loved fast cars, buying, and rebuilding a 1957 Ford station wagon he named “brown chocolate”. At the age of 17, he entered the Army, serving multiple tours in Vietnam as a member of the 1st Calvary Division. During his last duty station at Fort Hood, George fell in love with Texas and made Texas his home. As George grew older, he remembered the things his parents taught him about Jesus. He surrendered his life to Jesus and began to use his God given talents and his big personality to love people and love Jesus. His heart was that people would know Jesus. He was an evangelist for many years, finally settling into pastoring at Silver Maple Chapel where he remained until he passed.

George enjoyed playing music, drinking coffee, and making friends. He was a big fan of the Dallas Cowboys, particularly who he called the “real” Dallas Cowboys of the 1970’s. He also loved to watch the Baylor Bears girls’ basketball team. He was happiest surrounded by people, laughing and telling stories. He was a big presence with a big heart and touched many lives.

George is preceded in death by his parents, Vester and Virginia Meeks, sons, Michael Anthony Meeks, and Timothy DeLeon and brother Melton Meeks.

George is survived by his wife Rosa DeLeon Meeks of Bellmead, Texas. His children, Gary Meeks and wife Kristy of Mart Texas, daughter Rachael Meeks-Ennis and husband Marvin of Clifton Texas and Marcus DeLeon of Waco, Texas. He also is survived by his grandsons Elijah Meeks, Jordan Meeks, Timothy DeLeon, and Miles DeLeon, brother Stanley Meeks and wife Angela and the mother of his children Michael, Gary and Rachael, Nita Saenz Meeks. Countless others, including multiple nieces, nephews and friends who loved and knew George and are too many to mention by name will also miss him dearly.
