Emily Sherrill

Emily Jane Sherrill, born September 11, 1921, and died September 21, 2022, at the age of 101. A Visitation and Celebration of life for family and friends will be held from 6-8pm on Friday, September 30, 2022, at Pecan Grove Funeral Home, 3124 N. Robinson Dr., Waco, TX 76706.

Emily is the daughter of Sidney Neel and Ollie Neel. She married James Edward Sherrill on December 17, 1939, in Waco, TX. Emily and James made their homestead in Clinton, OK for many years. They were blessed with a son Neel Sherrill. Emily moved back to Waco in 1999 to be closer to family.

Emily enjoyed life and everyone in it. She was a member of Hewitt First United Methodist Church. She loved playing dominos and card games and was also once crowned “Queen of the Cottages” where she resided. Emily was an avid Texas Rangers baseball fan and the ultimate storyteller.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her sisters; her husband, James; and her son, Neel.

Emily is survived by her niece, Janette Finley and husband Richard; niece, Judy Robins and husband Mike; niece, Viva Kendrick; and niece, Virginia Bailey and husband Dill.

Emily was blessed to be an aunt of numerous great-nieces and great-nephews, including great-great nieces and nephews.
