Emily Kent

Emily Richards Kent passed peacefully at her home Sunday, January 17, 2021. The family will receive visitors on Monday, January 25, 2021 from 1pm to 2pm at the Cornerstone Baptist Church located at 1601 S. Robinson Drive, Robinson, TX. Immediately following the visitation at 2pm, a funeral service officiated by Reverend Jim Daniels will be held at the Cornerstone Baptist Church to honor the life of Emily Kent. Burial will follow at Rosemound Cemetery located at 3201 S. 12th Street, Waco, TX.

Emily was born October 14, 1950 in Waco, TX, to Vernon Ralph and Helen Louise Richards. She was a graduate of Waco High School Class of 1969. She spent many years in retail as a manager at the local Waco Career Girl stores. While working full time and raising three children, she went back to school at MCC where she completed her Associates Degree in Physical Therapy. Emily spent many years in the health care industry as a Physical Therapist Assistant using her skills to help and heal many patients.

Emily enjoyed visiting with friends and family, going camping and vacationing at the coast. But more than anything she loved following her children and grandchildren to all their school and sporting events. She never missed a ballgame and she was always the loudest mom in the stadium cheering on her kids!

Emily also loved the Lord with all her heart and loved her church family. She was a member of the Cornerstone Baptist Church where she taught women’s bible study, worked in the food pantry, and helped lead the church’s prayer chain ministry.

Emily was proceeded in death by her parents, and husbands Charles, Wes and Hernan and sister-in-law Stacy Cook-Simons. She is survived by her husband Walter Douglas Kent, Jr. and his numerous children, grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her brother Larry Richards and wife Linda of Bowie, sister-in-law Kimberly Brunson and husband James of Lorena, her son, Neil Ling and wife Colleen of Hewitt, son Marcus Ling and wife Alecia of Spicewood, and son Cody King and girlfriend Traci Reed of Robinson, grandchildren (her Angels) Morgan Ling, Gage King, Hunter Ling, Mason Ling, Brooks Ling and many other nieces, and nephews.

Pallbearers include Mason Ling, Hunter Ling, Brooks Ling, Gage King, Patrick Williams and Dylon Williams.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Cornerstone Baptist Church or The Shepherd’s Heart Robinson.
