Edna Irene Crosby

On Saturday May 1st, Edna “Irene” Crosby walked into the arms of her Lord and Savior while surrounded by her family. Her life was her family and her God. Funeral services will be 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 5 at Pecan Grove Funeral Home, 3124 N Robinson Dr., Waco, with Brother Joe Bailey officiating. Burial will immediately follow at Rosemound Cemetery. The family will receive visitors 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, May 4 at the funeral home.

Irene was born to Oran Adolphus and Audrey Mae Beard Conaway on September 27, 1930 in Eddy, Texas. As a child she lived on a farm with her parents where she picked cotton alongside them. She married William Crosby in Dot Texas on June 5, 1948 and was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She worked at Smith Furniture and retired from American Amicable Life Insurance.

During her 72 year marriage to William, who was the love of her life, they created a beautiful family and she was most affectionately known as Nana. Together they enjoyed camping, traveling many states with cousins, and loved playing chicken foot. She taught Sunday School in her early years and made many special memories with her grandchildren taking them camping every spring break during their school years. Irene especially enjoyed the family Christmas gatherings, making chocolate pies for her children, cherry pies for her grandchildren, and tending to her flowers. She was a member of Speegleville Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her father, mother and sister, Bernice Fisher. We know they are having a joyous reunion along with other family and friends.

She leaves behind her loving husband, William; son, Michael Crosby and wife, Diana; daughter, Dorothy Jennings and husband, Garry; granddaughter, April Keller and husband, Justin, and their children Aaron, Dalton, and Brianna; granddaughter, Kristi Arredondo and husband, Frank, and their children Ethan, Carter and Jordan; grandson, Jason Jennings and fiancé, Angela Redden; grandson, Daniel Crosby and wife, Stephanie, and their children Brooklyn and Brody; sisters-in-law, Jeanette Buckner and Billie Crosby; and many other family members and special friends.

Irene was a cancer survivor conquering two bouts of cancer and for those that so desire, she requested memorials be made to the American Cancer Society.
